Synopsis: The skin color of Frankenstein's Monster has undergone various changes. In the novel, the monster has yellow skin, but after undergoing various changes, most monster-related commercial products are currently represented with a greenish color. The yellow skin is not an accidental expression, and the context of the warning against xenophobia is clearly implied in the novel. Mary Shelley was a contemporary of anthropologist Johan FriedrichBlumenbach. In his research, he constructed a classification of the skin color of five races, and classified East Asians as yellow by naming Mongolia, invoking the image of threatening conquerors like Ghengis Khan.
